Call for Papers: CESLAM Kathmandu Migration Conference 2021

CALL FOR PAPERS
CESLAM Kathmandu Migration Conference 2021
18-19 March 2021

The Centre for the Study of Labour and Mobility (CESLAM) at Social Science Baha, Kathmandu, invites proposals for papers on areas related to migration in the Nepali context to be presented at a conference to be held on 18-19 March 2021. The proposed papers can deal with any aspect of migration related to Nepal, including but not limited to foreign labour migration, internal migration, student migration, and Nepali migrant communities, among others.

While this call for papers is meant primarily for those who have conducted research on various aspects of migration as part of their Master’s or PhD studies, those who have conducted original research outside of a university setting are also welcome to submit their work.

Interested applicants are required to submit the following documents to [email protected] by 15 December 2020:

  • An abstract of no more than 500 words
  • A one-page CV

Applicants will be notified of the decision on their paper by 8 January 2021.

The selected applicants are required to submit the final paper, of around 5000 words, by 1 March 2021.

Submissions will be evaluated according to its originality, relevance, clarity and potential to contribute significantly to existing knowledge on labour migration in Nepal.

Please note that there is no funding available for participation in the conference. CESLAM will, however, provide letters of support to those seeking travel grants.

The conference will be organised online if the COVID-19 situation prohibits in-person gatherings.

After the conference, a selection of papers will be invited for submission for publication by CESLAM following a review by a committee consisting of senior migration scholars.
