CESLAM Kathmandu Migration Conference 2022

The Centre for the Study of Labour and Mobility (CESLAM) at Social Science Baha, Kathmandu, invites proposals for papers on areas related to migration in the Nepali context to be presented at the fourth CESLAM Migration Conference to be held on 16-17 February 2022. The proposed papers can deal with any aspect of migration related to Nepal, including but not limited to foreign labour migration, internal migration, student migration, and Nepali migrant communities, among others.

While this call for papers is meant primarily for those who have conducted research on various aspects of migration as part of their Master’s or PhD studies, those who have conducted original research outside of a university setting are also welcome to submit their work.

Interested applicants are required to submit the following documents to [email protected] by 8 November 2021:

  • An abstract of no more than 500 words
  • A one-page CV

Applicants will be notified of the decision on their paper by 30 November 2021.

The selected applicants are required to submit the final paper, of around 5000 words, by 31 January 2022.

Submissions will be evaluated according to its originality, relevance, clarity and potential to contribute significantly to existing knowledge on labour migration in Nepal.

The conference will be an online event. 

After the conference, a selection of papers will be invited for submission for publication by CESLAM following a review by a committee consisting of senior migration scholars.
