The existing literature on migration, especially foreign labour migration from Nepal, has mostly been analysed from an economic perspective, thus failing to explain the complexities of migration and its socio-economic and intercultural implications, particularly the social/human implications of migration. To address this issue, this project seeks to conduct a comprehensive socio-economic analysis of the effects of migration on families and communities. In particular, it seeks to uncover the nexus between migration, development, and social changes by tracing the various dimensions of migration – economic, social and structural (ongoing).
