The validation workshop was organised to present the major findings of the ‘Nepal Case Study for European Report on Development 2013’. The presentation was made by Ratnakar Adhikari, Chief Executive Director, SAWTEE, and Bandita Sijapati, Research Director, CESLAM.

The discussants for the event were Dr. Pushkar Bajracharya, Former Member, National Planning Commission, Government of Nepal and Mr. Rajendra Khetan, President, Nepal Britain Chamer of Comemrce & Industry. The workshop also sought comments and suggestions on the findings from other stakeholders present in the workshop.

The event was also attended Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada, Governer, Nepal Rastra Bank; Dr. James Mackie, Senior Advisor, EU Development Policy and lead author, European Report on Development 2013; Luis Navarro, Head of Operations, Delegation of the European Union to Nepal.

The European Report on Development (ERD), an annual report commissioned by the European Commission since 2009, is an endeavor to guide the course of development cooperation in several socio-economic areas. The focus of the ERD 2012-2013 – the fourth in the series – is “Development in a Changing World: Elements for a Post-2015 Global Agenda.”

The Nepal case study is being jointly prepared by South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics and Environment (SAWTEE) and the Centre for the Study of Labour and Mobility (CESLAM).
