CESLAM Kathmandu Migration Conference 2020
19-20 March 2020


The Centre for the Study of Labour and Mobility (CESLAM) at Social Science Baha, Kathmandu, invites proposals for papers on areas related to migration in the Nepali context to be presented at a conference to be held on 19-20 March 2020. The proposed papers can deal with any aspect of migration related to Nepal, including but not limited to foreign labour migration, internal migration, student migration, Nepali migrant communities, etc.

While this call for papers is meant primarily for those who have conducted research on various aspects of migration as part of their Master’s or PhD studies, those who have conducted original research outside of a university setting are also welcome to submit their work.
 
Interested applicants are required to submit the following documents to [email protected] by 31 January 2020:

  • An abstract of no more than 500 words
  • A one-page CV

Applicants will be notified of the decision on their paper by 15 February 2020.

Please note there is no funding available for participation in the conference.
CESLAM will, however, provide letters of support to those seeking travel grants.

Submissions will be evaluated according to its originality, relevance, clarity and potential to contribute significantly to existing knowledge on labour migration in Nepal.

After the conference, a selection of papers will be invited for submission for publication by CESLAM following a review by a committee consisting of senior migration scholars.
