India-Returnee Dies A Few Days After He Completed 14-Day Quarantine Stay

Achham, June 28: An India-returnee who went home after completing his stay in the quarantine has died in the district.

A 45-year old person of Ramaroshan Rural Municipality-5 breathed his last while under treatment at Bayalpata hospital today.

The person was taken to the hospital on Saturday as he suffered from sudden respiratory problem, and he was under treatment at the emergency ward of the hospital, informed Dev Joshi, information officer at District Health Office, Achham. The person was a diabetes patient and taking medicine, added Joshi.

Swabs of the deceased and others two who attended him in the hospital have been collected and sent to Dhangadhi for PCR testing. Two other persons who were staying with the deceased in the quarantine have tested positive for COVID-19 in the RDT and placed in isolation ward set up at the local level. 

Dambar Bahadur Shah, health worker at Ramaroshan RM health section, said that the person was taken to the hospital as he showed symptoms similar to that of a person suffering from COVID-19.

The person was sent home on June 23 after he completed period for quarantine stay and also tested negative for virus in the RDT test. The person had returned home from India through Gaurifanta border point and reached home village on June 9 and then placed in quarantine set up at Kailasheshwor Ghattekheti Basic School.

Shah said that preparation for cremation was underway in the village by using person protective equipment available at the village because the army was unlikely to come for the task as the PCR report was not sent yet.

So far, 124 people have tested positive for the virus in Achham district.
