Selection for OJT in Israel begins

Kathmandu, May 15

Selection of students for sixth phase of ‘on-the-job training' (OJT) in Israel began today. The students will be sent to agriculture training institutes of Israel to learn about agriculture technology, practices and enhance their skills.

A total of 500 students will be sent to five agriculture training institutes of Israel from August for 10 months.

Israel has been offering OJT to Nepali students since 2011 and a total of 2,100 students have benefited under this scheme. Of them, 1,600 have returned to the country and embraced entrepreneurship in the agriculture sector.

Sana Kisan Bank and its partner cooperatives recommend the names of the students interested to study agriculture and the recommended students are selected through a lottery system by the Israeli embassy in Kathmandu. Students are provided basic orientation after they are selected just before they leave for Israel.
