Japan hires 22 Nepali industrial trainees

Japan hired 22 Nepalis as industrial trainees (ITs) in last 14 months under Japan International Training Cooperation Organization (JITCO). According to Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE), Nepali outsourcing agencies got 647 demands during the period but they could send only two dozen JITCO job aspirants to Tokyo.

Ministry of Labour and Transport Management (MoLTM) had permitted 171 outsourcing agencies for JITCO process last year. According to the department, Pathibhara Overseas Pvt Ltd has bagged demand of 75 ITs in agriculture followed by Mankapana Power Networks (74), Sunkosi Manpower (70), Mustang (50) and United International (42).

Siddhartha Buddha has sent 11 workers, Himal Manpower 10 and United International one to Japan. JITCO demand to Nepal is focused on agriculture sector followed by construction, manufacturing and general technical sectors. Japanese garment industries have significant women demand in sewing.

Around 71 Nepali women demands in the sewing sector. Low demand from Japanese companies shows that Nepali outsourcing agencies failed to market Nepali workers in the new destination. Nepalis under JITCO ITs and interns earn Rs 50,000 to 1,00,000 per month
