Nepali migrant workers in Sudurpaschim Province, who had returned to Nepal following the second wave of coronavirus in India, have started going back to different cities of India with the decline in coronavirus cases in India.

Many Nepali workers had lost their jobs and returned to the country after many states in India clamped lockdown to contain the virus spread. Hundreds of people are going to India through Gauriphanta and Gaddachauki border points on a daily basis. 

Workers returning to India lament that they had to go India risking their lives as they did not have any job opportunity in the country.

A local in Joshipur Rural Municipality, Kailali, Padam Raj Awasti said that he wanted to go to India as soon as possible so that he could earn some amount for his family.

Awasti said that it was very difficult for him to feed his family if he stayed in the country.

He added that he was forced to leave the country due to lack of job opportunity here.

Chandra Bahadur Bista of Godawari Municipality, Kailali, is yet another migrant worker from Sudurpaschim, who is compelled to go to India leaving his children behind in the country.

Awasti and Bista are just a few representative characters, there are thousands of youths in Sudurpaschim who have the same plight to share.

As many as 53,300 people had returned to the country from India in the two months through Gauriphanta and Gaddachauki entry points. Of them, 18,772 have already returned to India.
