The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) today arrested five officials of the Immigration Department and four of the Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE) on charges of taking bribe. 

Immigration Department’s Section officers Surya Prasad Dahal, Devershi Sapkota, first-class non-gazetted staffs Pradip Prasad Lamichhane, Bishworaj Kharel and office assistant Jaya Narayan Napit got arrested for receiving bribe of Rs 15,000 each.

According to a CIAA source, they got arrested after the CIAA obtained a video clip showing them accepting bribes from foreign job seekers Upendra Shahi and Birendra Mandal of Janakpur, Mahottari district. The incident came to the fore after Shahi and Madal's arrest a month ago. 

The anti-graft body also arrested five staff of the DoFE -- Deepak Prasad Khatiwoda, Chandrahari Luintel, Ram Bahadur Pokhrel and Oh Abdullah Makasud -- on bribery charges.
