Initiative on to release Nepalis held in Costa Rica: Foreign Ministry

The government is effortful for the immediate release of the Nepalis held in Costa Rica. Initiatives are on through the Nepali Embassy in Washington, America, it is learnt.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, probably, they would be released today itself. Issuing a press release today, the Ministry said that the government has demanded the Honorary Consul in Costa Rica to inform the condition of the arrested Nepalis and take initiative for their release.

A total of 27 Nepali people, who had entered Costa Rica, without any document were arrested on September 7. The press release further stated that the Honorary Consul has visited the arrested Nepalis and did needful for them. The government has not been able to establish direct contact with the arrested people, as they are in the southern part of Costa Rica. 

The Costa Rica police arrested the Nepalis citing they made attempt to entre America illegally and handed them over to the Immigration Office. (RSS)
