No reports of troubles with Nepalis in Iraq

Nepali Ambassador to Iraq Bharat Raj Paudyal has said embassy staff are in regular contact with Nepalis living and working in war-torn Iraq and they have yet to hear of any unpleasant news concerning the migrants.

Paudyal, who is Nepal’s residential ambassador to Pakistan concurrently accredited to Iraq , told the Post on the phone that he is using all his channels to relay the message to Nepalis in Iraq to stay safe. On Monday, Paudyal discussed the security of the Nepalis with Iraqi ambassador to Pakistan in Islamabad.

“The ambassador assured that the Iraqi government will take full responsibility of the security to Nepali citizens,” Paudyal said, cautioning Nepali citizens against traveling to Iraq at the moment. “The situation in Iraq is tense. The government will apply all means if the need to eject Nepalis from there arises,” he assured.
