Nepal Trade Union Congress-Independent is gearing up for its fifth general convention to be held from August 25 to 27 in Chitwan. NTUCI is an umbrella organisation of Nepal Press Union, Unipress Nepal, trade workers, teachers, barbers, transport workers and labourers from different sectors. The convention will elect a 37-member working committee, said Surya Nepal, central member of NTUCI. Former prime minister and Nepali Congress president late Girija Prasad Koirala had established the union 64 years ago as Nepal Trade Union.
