Three migrant workers' bodies stranded in foreign soil

In a week’s time, as many as three Nepali migrant workers died in the line of duty in different countries. Attempts to bring their bodies back home are going on.

The deceased are Jhinka Tharu, 44, of Tamsariya and Purna Bahadur BK, 32, of Kolhuwa, Nawalparasi, and Hari Bahadur Chaudhary of Pata in Kapilvastu district. While Chudhary died in Saudi Arabia on January 16, Tharu and BK died in Malaysia on January 18 and 24 respectively.

The kin of the deceased have sought help from authorities at the Safer Migration Information and Counselling Centre, Kawasoti to bring the dead bodies back.

According to the centre, a number of people have contacted the office seeking help to bring back the bodies of their kin who had died suddenly while engaged in foreign employment.

Most of the Nepali migrant workers have died while working in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia and most of the deceased are aged under 40.

The centre is taking initiatives to bring the three bodies back at the earliest by securing cooperation from other concerned stakeholders.
