‘Held children not refugees’

The Tibetan Refugee Welfare Office (TRWO) in Nepal has expressed its concern over the police report that Jayang Tenzin (15) and Tsering Lhamo (12), arrested on July 26 from the Tribhuvan International Airport while trying to fly to the United States on Nepali passports, are Tibetan refugees. Issuing a statement on Friday, the TRWO rubbished the claim and said no persons with the names had been registered with the Tibetan Reception Centre and Central Tibetan Administration. It has been claimed that the Birth and Bonafide Certificate issued to Tenzin and Lhamo on Feb 8 with TRWO Secretray Trinlay Gyatso’s signature were forged.
