51‚499 apply for Korean test

A total of 51,499 individuals have applied for the Korean Language Test to go to South Korea for jobs under the Employment Permit System (EPS). The number of applications for the language test is less compared to what the government had witnessed last year.

Last year, a total of 62,514 individuals had submitted applications for the exam. An official at the Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE) said that aspirants could have been discouraged this year due to the fact that fewer applicants have been passing the test in the previous years.

The government had established five application collection centres in Kathmandu Valley and five outside the Valley. During the four days, a total of 26,855 applications were collected from within the Valley and 24,644 from outside Valley, according to EPS Section Office of DoFE.

The highest number of applications — 9,089 — was received from Dharan centre followed by Pokhara (8,335). Similarly, the highest number of applications in Valley — 7,196 — was collected from Gaushala centre. EPS Section Office has said the test will be conducted on 13-14 June.
