Six women rescued from traffickers at TIA, 2 held

Six women have been rescued from Tribhuvan International Airport on Wednesday evening after police found that they were being trafficked to Thailand.

The Kathmandu District Court remanded to arrested men to five days in custody.

Superintendent of Police Sahakul Bahadur Thapa, spokesperson of Metropolitan Police Crime Division, said the arrested have been identified as Surya Man Shrestha of Nuwakot and Prakash KC of Kathmandu. “The women were lured into flying to Thailand on tourist visa,” Thapa said. “They come from various backgrounds and they arrived in Kathmandu a week ago.” The rescued women, in their statement to police, have said that they were promised jobs in Kuwait and Shrestha and KC had made arrangements for their travel to their destination. However, the women had visas only up to Thailand.

In the past, Shrestha and KC were arrested on the charge of forgery. This time too, the duo arranged fake documents to officials that women were on a holiday trip.
