Three student assailants arrested over brawl

The Bangladesh police has arrested three Nepali students in connection with a recent brawl at the University of Science and Technology at Chatgaun, Bangladesh where at least 15 Nepali students were injured.

According to the Nepali Embassy in Dhaka, a fact-finding mission headed by Military Attaché at the embassy Col. Prabhu Ram Sharma was sent to Chatgaun and he will submit a report by Thursday.

Similarly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday sent Joint Secretary Hari Kumar Shrestha to Dhaka. According to Foreign Secretary Madan Kuamr Bhattarai, Shrestha will look into the matter and suggest measures to avoid such scuffles in the future.

Last Friday, an armed group of Nepali students at the university had attacked their colleagues, severely injuring 15 students at the university’s hostel. “Now the situation is normal.

Three students, including prime suspect Rajendra Dhungana, have been arrested,” deputy chief of Mission at the embassy, Krishna Chandra Aryal, told the Post. Out of a dozen suspects, 3-4 students are hiding and two out of the three admitted to a local hospital have been discharged.
