Bangladeshi man found forging Nepali MRP

It has come to light that an individual suspected to be a Bangladeshi national has forged a Nepali Machine Readable Passport (MRP) through the Nepal embassy in Bangkok. The man had used the particulars of one Dilli Ram Dhital of Morang district.

The passport forgery came to light after Dhital applied for an MRP passport.

When he submitted his documents at the Department of Passport (DoP), records there showed that an MRP had already been issued under his name on September 30, 2013.

“An MRP has already been issued in your name,” Dhital quoted an official at DoP as saying. He informed that the passport issued contained all his personal particulars except photo.

Investigations into the case showed that the suspected Bangladeshi took out the passport from Bangkok, Thailand.

Dhital is scheduled to fly to Malaysia on January 24 but DoP has asked him to verify his identity.

The particulars in the Nepali citizenship copy used for taking out the MRP match those in the MRP. The Nepali citizenship copy was taken out on December 17, 2003 from Morang District Office.

“It shows that the person who forged Dhital´s passport issued a forged copy of his citizenship also,” said Morang CDO Ganesh Raj Karki. He said investigations are being carried out to establish the truth.

Records at the Home Ministry show that passport number 06778569 was issued in Dhital´s name from Nepal´s embassy in Bangkok a year ago.

“Evidence suggests that the first copy of the citizenship and the MRP in question are fakes,” added Karki.

Dhital, who had gone to Malaysia for the first time in 2003, works at the MNA metal company there and has been travelling back and forth with a conventional passport though an MRP has already been issued in his name.

“We have information on Bangladeshi nationals who forge citizenships and MRPs,” said an official at Morang Diestrict Administration Office, adding, “Many Bangladeshis have used fake Nepali passports to fly abroad.”

It is being assumed that Dhital´s paticulars were forged from the manpower companies through which he went overseas.
