Rescued children felicitated

Child Workers in Nepal Concerned Centre, an organisation working in the field of destitute children and those who were in the streets, rescued many such kids man years ago. The rescued children are in their youth and well established in society in various fields. CWIN today organised a programme to felicitate these youths who once were rescued during their childhood by the organisation. 

Those rescued children, now in their youth, today shared their experiences as well and told the audience that in how vulnerable situation they were before they were rescued. 

Basu Rai, one of those rescued by CWIN, was one among those to be felicitated today. From the Streets of Kathmandu, a book authored by Basu was also launched in the programme. The book chronicles Basu’s days in the Kathmandu streets. 

Speaking at the programme Kiran Rupakhetee, Under Secretary at the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare, said, “These youths, who were rescued as child labourers and street kids, today are role models in society.” He stated that NGOs like CWIN inspire the government for promotion and protection of child rights in the country.

Tarak Dhital, Executive Director, Central Child Welfare Board under MoWCSW, said that CWIN youths were symbol of challenges to achieve a society free of child labour and street kids. “Youths fighting against such issues are ladders of change,” he said. 

Madhav Pradhan of CWIN said, “We are very happy to see the rescued kids gaining access to various profession.”  The rescued children are difficult to control because of their psychological and sociological terms.

It takes ample amount of time to show them as well as bring them to right track through discipline and unconditional love, Pradhan shared.
