Wife seeks help to retrieve husband's body from Saudi

Tears roll down her cheeks all the time. Neither she eats properly nor does she sleep. Bishnumaya Pun of Jagatpur village of Bardiya district has not recovered from shock since she learnt that the body of her husband remains unclaimed at a Saudi morgue for a month and a half.

Her husband Man Bahadur Shrestha had been workiing in Bajadi Trading East Company in Saudi Arabia for the past six months. A mother of three, Bishnumaya came to know about her husband´s death through his friend Arjun Chaudhari. But she was not told the circumstances of his death.

Bishnumaya has not disclosed the tragic news to the children. Man Bahadur´s parents are equally shocked. "The Saudi company has not sent us the body, and I don´t know the procedures to bring the body," Bishnumaya bemoaned. "The children still do not know about it," she said.

The children are studying at a local English-medium school where she has to pay hefty tuition fees. Bishnumaya has also been taking care of Man Bahadur´s elderly parents. "I do not know how to carry on. Chaudhari did not tell me the circumstances of my husband´s death and the procedures to retrieve the body," said the bereaved wife, adding, "His employer has not done anything to send the body even after a month and a half." Bishnumaya hopes that foreign ministry could do something for her. "But I don´t know how to contact the ministry."
